Delete your FamPlan account and data

Two ways to do it: from inside the app, or by asking us. Both delete the same things.

From inside the app

If you created the family

Open FamPlan and go to menu → Family → Delete my family. It asks you to confirm, because it cannot be undone.

That removes the family and everything recorded in it, and it removes the accounts that belonged only to that family — yours included. If somebody in the family also belongs to another family, their account stays, because it is still in use somewhere else.

If you joined someone else’s family

Anyone who is not the family’s owner can take themselves out at menu → Settings → Leave this family — from an account, or from a phone that joined with an invitation. You come off the roster and your devices are signed out; what you already did in the family stays in its record under your name. A parent can also remove you from your member page in Family. If you want the account itself deleted as well, email us as below and say so.

By email

Write to support@spydaz.com from the email address on the account, and say whether you want your account deleted, your whole family’s data deleted, or a copy of it first. Asking from the account’s own address is how we know it is you; if you cannot, we will ask you something only the account holder would know rather than delete on the strength of a name.

We act on these within 30 days and normally within a couple of working days. You do not need an account on this website, and there is nothing to sign in to here.

What is deleted

This is a real deletion from the live database, not a flag on a row that leaves the data sitting there.

What takes longer, and why

It cannot be instantaneous and complete, and we will not pretend otherwise. The database is backed up on a schedule, and those backups are immutable: once written they cannot be altered or partially rewritten, by us or by anybody holding our credentials.

That is exactly what you want from a backup, and it is also why we cannot reach into one and surgically remove a single family. Each backup expires on our retention schedule instead, and your data is gone from our systems entirely once every backup taken before the deletion has aged out. Until then those copies are encrypted, are never queried or used for anything, and would only ever be restored whole in a disaster.

We also keep the minimum record of the transaction itself where the law requires it — a subscription receipt, for instance — which contains no family content.

Any company promising your data is gone the instant you press delete either keeps no backups or is being loose with you.
